Lavender Hot Chocolate with Whipped Cream

So many way to indulge over the holidays. It is an excuse to go to cookie exchanges, make buttery roasted veggies, and of course, turkey!
Over the last month I’ve been swimming in wrapping paper, Christmas lights, and new and creative ways to keep the one very troublesome cat, Oliver, off the Christmas tree this year.

So many treats have come through my kitchen and most definitely overly indulgent. This is on the scale. A hot and quick home-made lavender hot chocolate with pistachio and honey whipped cream! Perfect as a stand-alone dessert during those cold winter nights.

Lavender Hot Chocolate with Pistachio Whipped Cream
Home-made hot chocolate! Fast and easy with just the right amount of sweetness. Perfect for the winter.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 tsp dried lavender buds
  • 2 tsp brown sugar use as much as you need to achieve the right sweetness
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1 tsp organic dark liquid honey
  • 1 tbsp crushed pistachios
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Ingredients
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 tsp dried lavender buds

  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1 tsp organic dark liquid honey
  • 1 tbsp crushed pistachios
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Pour milk into a small sauce pan and add lavender buds.
  2. Place on the stovetop on medium heat.
  3. Add the cocoa powder and the semi sweet chocolate chips and use the whisk to combine.
  4. Add sugar to taste.
  5. While the chocolate is heating up, pour the whipping into a bowl. Use a hand blender to whip the cream. Slowly add honey. Once the cream is whipped, gently fold the pistachios into the cream.
  6. Divide the hot chocolate mixture between two cups, pouring it through a sieve to discard the lavender pods.
  7. Top each mug with the whipping cream and sprinkle the top with cinnamon.
  8. Enjoy!
